Old Stomping Grounds

During this quick trip back home I was able to make it up to Boulder. I just love Chautauqua Park. When I lived here I used to drive up the mountain and spend the evenings looking over the city. Ahh, I miss those days. But for today, it was a very quick trip back to the town I love. We went to the Walnut Cafe and then drove up to the park. Can you believe all the snow!?! Definitely not something I get to see back in Seattle.

So today's outfit is nothing too special. I bought this new scarf on sale at Madewell, they were having a ridiculous sale of an additional 30% off all of their sale items. I'm glad I had Topher with me because left to my own devices I would have walked out with a lot more.

By the way, thanks to everyone on the NYE/Birthday dress vote! I can't wait to show you what I get!

Decisions, decisions...

Hmm... What to wear, what to wear? With new year's eve and my birthday all rolled in to one, I always splurge a bit to get myself a new dress for the special occasion. But this year I'm being quite indecisive and need to decide NOW! Which one do you think is the perfect NYE/Birthday dress?

Happy Holidays!

Hello everyone! Happy holidays! As you can see, Santa brought me what I wanted- SNOW! Ah, glorious snow! Later in the day we went sledding and I got to be the official sled photographer. I forget how bright it can be when its sunny out and you're surrounded in white, my eyes might have felt a bit burnt. Maybe my normal glasses weren't the best idea.

Did anyone get anything exciting? I received money to go towards a scooter I have had my eye on for quite some time. But then I landed myself on Nordstrom's website today and lusted over a Marc by Marc Jacobs handbag.... so who knows what I'll end up buying.

The whole house was up at 4AM this morning so I opted for the most casual but put together outfit. I even took a nap in this outfit after all commotion settled down. I got this sweater at the GAP during their pre-holiday sales for a whopping 12 dollars! I was supposed to be Christmas shopping and somehow ended up with this sweater. No harm, no foul right?

Black and Yellow

Oh look, that's me at work. Well actually outside of work but I'm still at work! Now that I'm without a photographer I had to ask one of my amazing co-workers to snap some pictures while we went to get coffee (umm, oh look I just so happen to have my DSLR with me). Come this time tomorrow, I will be on my way to Colorado and snow! I'm so excited that I'm counting down the minutes until I leave work.

If you have noticed yet, I'm in love obsessed with this skirt. I somehow was able to pull it off with a tee shirt. It's almost as if I am bordering on pro status, tee shirt and fancy skirt yep that's me.

Sun and Goodbyes

Oh look! Two of my favorite things: the view from Kerry Park and the sun. Actually another favorite thing you can't see is my photographer (well, my only photographer really). This was my cousin's last photo shoot with me since he got a job offer in West Virginia. Congratulations to Ian, I will miss him more than he could know!

And now that he has filled a job opening in WV there is a job opening here in Seattle for a photographer. Good thing Colorado is coming soon, I'll be able to bribe a special 11 year old to snap the ol' DSLR.

Now let's talk business. This outfit is nothing special but comfy. I love this So who are we kidding, this post is really for the view.

More animal print? Yes.

See? I told you this skirt would be making many appearances. But what else is making a regular appearance is cheetah print. While out an about this last weekend, I was informed by friend that cheetah print was out of style. NEVER! After me and my friend May ganged up on him for  few minutes he finally agreed that maybe he was wrong. Silly boy, what does he know? Little did he know that I have big plans of buying the new cheetah print iPhone cover from J Crew (you can find it here). If I could wear cheetah print on cheetah print I would but I know that it would be taking it too far.

Street Art Part 2

This is what I love most about Seattle- the abundance of art everywhere. All the outdoor art is great to break up the usual grey weather. This particular wall is the barrier for construction for a the new light rail system in Capitol Hill. There's also some light rail construction by my house and the art on those walls is cool photo booth photos from University of Washington.

Today was one of those days where everything was aligning perfectly. The sun was out, I got tons of errands done, got to grab some lunch at my favorite place Honey Hole and I was feeling this outfit. I'm actually getting super excited for some of my travel plans coming up, Colorado next weekend and then Texas in January. Anyone else traveling for the holidays? Any exciting plans?

Work Comfy

I'm pretty sure I've created a new category for work wear. Work casual. Essentially its however I can make leggings part of my work outfit. Yes you read that right, leggings! I could try to justify my laziness by saying that I really jazzed up my outfit but as you can see I barely did my hair. Has anyone else been feeling the stress of the holidays at all? Work has been absolutely busy and by the time I get home I'm ready to hop in bed and read.

But really, I'm thankful I was even able to get some photos anyways. Its been dark when I go to work and when I get home, leaving no daylight for photo shoots. This vitamin D deficient gal is ready for the trip to Colorado next week. Oh the photos that will be taken!

Blog life

Oh blogging. I finally got to get a taste of what its like when the stars just don't align- its freezing out, the lighting is weird, I decided to wear something that makes me blend in with the Seattle grey. I'm still not too sure how the people in the sailboats behind me stayed out as long as they did. Oh what, the love of the sport. Oh blogging, I love you.

Christmas Red

Every year around this time I bring out this jacket and then I remember that this is my favorite thing in my closet. A couple years ago a good friend bought this for me for Christmas! If she only knew how much use I get out of this beauty. We both were sales girls (me at Nordstrom and her at J Crew) and I can't help but feel I won the Christmas gift/employee discount/after holiday sales jackpot that year.

Now that this jacket is out and about, its definitely holiday season.

Riding Fancy

Here's what I learned today- high waisted corduroys plus riding boots make you feel like a girl straight out of a Ralph Lauren catalog. I'll just have to substitute all those horses for an attention stealing border collie.

Also, isn't the wall behind me kind of awesome? The hospital I work in is doing some construction and this is the fencing they put up around the construction (there's even mistletoe!).

Maxi Skirt Success

I am completely in love with this maxi skirt. I sat in American Apparel for 20 minutes staring at it after a week of staring at it online. Was it the right length after all? Was it too see through to wear to work? Would it look like an old lady skirt? And then the sales girl came up to me to talk my ear off for next 10 more minutes. Catch my math here? That meant my 22 minutes in the parking meter were up and I'm pretty sure I saw the parking police down the block. Fine, I'll take the skirt but throw in some tights too.

Fast forward to today, I wore this skirt to work with my favorite heels and now I'm in love. I'm sure this skirt will soon become a quick go-to.

Street Art

So my photographer and I were just wandering around Seattle (well, actually I was using my photographer as manpower to help me pick up a new bedframe) and we found this little street art gem. As soon as he said "Look there is an owl!" the car came to a complete stop. Before I knew it my handyman/cousin was back to being my photographer. Now if I could only convince these guys to come to my house and paint.

This has to be one of my favorite shoots of my blog so far! And thanks to all the people who have supported me in this new endeavor!

Mixing things up

I consider myself a pro when it comes to matching up stripes and patterns, but the stripes and cheetah print combo even felt like a stretch for me. But once my vintage motorcycle jacket was on, I felt like an authentic daredevil.

Last January I did a round of Six Items or Less and this dress was one of my six items. You would think that this dress is the last thing I want to wear but nope, I still love this little number.

Oh hey, dog.

So, nothing fancy today just a normal work outfit. Stripes and boots. Actually wait... if you count my A-MAZ-ING Marc by Marc Jacobs owl earrings then yes, this is quite a fancy outfit if I do say so myself. Not to state the obvious, but this gal loves an owl (or two).

Pshht. Who am I kidding Rufio, always steals the stage. That darn cute dog. The innocent and cute look is all a front, he knows.
